I had a crack at painting Koi in the Chinese style today.  I used watercolours instead of ground ink and a couple of watercolour brushes plus an old baster for the bigger strokes.  I couldn't quite get the feathered effect that the ink leaves (see the donkey / pony's tail) but I don't think they came out too badly.

 

The black one is out of the book, the gold one was played by ear.
